Evald Okas created several beautiful works portraying the life of coast dwellers during the 1950s. Evald Okas, People’s Artist of the Soviet Union, full member of the USSR Academy of Arts, professor. He got his training in art in Tallinn, at the State School in 1938 – 1941, graduating with the diploma of a painter. E. Okas’ works have been displayed at exhibitions since 1939. His creative endeavours have brought him wide recognition, including the following award – six State Prizes of the Estonian SSR (1947- 1950, 1959, 1965, 1985), the highest purchase prize og the Ljubljana International Biennial of Graphic Art (1961), silver medal of the USSR Academy of Arts (1962), the annual Kristjan Raud Art Prize (1979), and the gold medal of the Exhibition of Economic Achievements of the USSR.

The construction of plants Kohtla-Jarve and Kunda inspired E. Okas, giving impetus to the industrial and structural reasons.
This work was part of the folder, which was released in limited editions, for the Ministry of Culture of Estonia.
