A. Kalmus received his primary Art education in St. Petersburg from 1906-1914 at the Art School of the Imperial Society for the Encouragement of Arts - in the studio of Yakov Goldblat. From 1917 to 1920 in the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. Since 1925 he continued his studies in Paris, first in the studio of Vasily Shukhaev, then in the studio of Filippo Colarossi. The Paris years 1925 - 1927 are the most interesting in his work. At this time, he began to work in a new constructive style.In all likelihood, this romantic landscape, (an estate in Estonia) is made to order.
