The collection of art ceramics, presented in the gallery RIOS ART, is made in one of the most famous workshops in the Balkans, which was founded by the hereditary ceramist and artist Daniel Nikolov.

Born in Nehatu manor. G. Von Bochmann studied in 1868-71 in Düsseldorf at the Academy of Arts and worked then in Düsseldorf as a liberal painter until 1895, when he became professor of academy. He is still very appreciated in Germany and in whole word as a master of Düsseldorf School. He has participated in most of exhibitions in Düsseldorf, Munich, Vienna, Dresden, and Berlin. He has lots of medals. Bochmann imaged on his paintings his homeland- Estonian’s motives, more than once foreground of forges, because he loved and was able to image horses and their movements. He possessed watercolors, what is also improved with this work. His works are represented in in Düsseldorf’s Museum of Art, Berlin National Gallery, Dresden Art Gallery, München New Pinotek, Tretjakov Gallery in Moskow, and Estonian Art Museum in Tallinn.

Among the most celebrated Swiss landscape painters of the 19th century, Alexander Calame made a particular speciality of Alpine mountain scenes. Despite losing his right eye as a child, he was determined to make a career as an artist, and studied with the landscapist François Diday between 1829 and 1832. From 1828 he began producing vues pittoresques suisses in gouache, intended for sale as autonomous works of art, which allowed him a measure of financial independence. He first came to the attention of French collectors and connoisseurs at the Salon of 1839, where he exhibited a view set in the Bernese Oberland, entitled A Thunderstorm in Handeck. The painting was a great success in Paris, and was purchased by public subscription by the city of Geneva for the Musée Rath. At the Salon two years later one of his paintings, a View of the Valley of Ansasca, was purchased by the King, Louis-Philippe. By this time Calame’s success was assured. His paintings, worked up from oil sketches and drawings made sur le motif, were in great demand, and were purchased by collectors throughout Europe, and particularly in Russia. In 1854 he published a number of landscape drawings and studies in lithographic form as Leçons de dessin appliqué au paysage.

Raoul Dufy - French painter, graphic artist, decorator. Born 1877 and died 1953 in France. He got education in Paris Fine Arts School. The impressionist`s paintings were very close to his creative works. In 1906 was organized the first personal artist's exhibition, where he met the painter Anry Matis. The last one used in his paintings only bright, clean colors and sharp contours. The same lines were characterized to Dufy`s works in 1906-1909. The artist has not his own style until the 1920's, only later he has worked it out. His latest creative period painting style was called "scenagraphical". His water-colours and oil paintings presented the manners picture of the artist lifetime.
Dufy was a well-known and talented illustrator, the master of Decorative applied art- and monumental paintings.

This work was created after the artist's travel to Egypt in 1959. Next year under the impression of the performed trip he created this aquatint. "The Niles Boatman" is the most best-known of E.Einmann's graphic works. The artist finished and exhibited it in 1961 that explains different dates of copies. Reproduced in Eduard Einmann's book "In the Land of Pyramids", page 141.

The aquarellist M.Fuks was born in 1921 in Leningrad, same year the family has moved to Estonia. The aquarellist. Has finished in 1935 in Tallinn начальую school. In 1940 –Comprehensive school graphic and an applied art on a specialty "Set dresser". 1940-41 it was trained at School of an applied art of J.Koort, and with 1942 for 43 of – pupil N.Mej and E.Haamer at the Tallinn School graphic and an applied art. Worked in Синди, Tallinn in Studio Myttus, 1944-83 – in"Ars". A member of the Union of Artists of Estonia with 1955. Has illustrated and has issued set of books for children and youth, and also textbooks, magazines and newspapers. Created posters, wrote city landscapes, still-lifes and portraits. In 1947 became the author of the sketch of a badge and a breastplate (together with A.Hojdre) the Holiday of a song First in the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Eduard von Gebhardt, a professor of the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts, was born in the village of Järva-Jaani in Estonia. He reworked the style of German religious painting by visualising evangelistic scenarios in Lutheran surroundings. His works are also of substantial interest as paintings in themselves. This gorgeous, strongly and sappily modelled characteristic portrait of a person in a bright gown of the style dating back to the Reformation (16th century).
The painter Eduard von Gebhardt, studied in the St Petersburg Academy of Arts professor of Düsseldorf Academy, whose works of art have been compared to the great masters of renaissance.
Exhibitions: Tallinn, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Brussels, Dresden.
One can see the reproduction of this work in A.Rosenberg monography (1899 of page 88, repr. 87), and K.Griezi's monographies (1995. And 121).

Erik Haamer worked as the teacher painting, drawing and anatomy at the Tallinn School of an applied (1941-44). In 1944 has immigrated to Sweden where the most part of time, was the free artist. Wrote large figurative compositions, illustrated "Kalevipoeg". Works of the artist are available in many museums of the world

R. E. von Hoerschelmann was born in Tartu, a university professor of classical philology in the family, began his art studies at Tartu continued in Munich.
Hoerschelmann created as a writer, illustrator, cartoonist and graphic designer a versatile plant, Illustrations for about 40 books and magazines Simplicissimus, Die Jugend, Youth and Flying leaves , numerous wood and paper cutouts, watercolors and bookplates and poster designs . His drawings featuring a brisk, impressionistic stroke. The hitherto neglected art form the silhouette got through Hoerschelmann a new significance in the book illustration. The book illustrations Hoerschelmanns are influenced by different creative periods of the graphic artist Alfred Kubin, by Max Slevogt . With Kubin Hoerschelmann shared a penchant for fantasy .

After initially studying Theoretical Philosophy and Art History at the University of Helsinki, Päivikki Kallio (b. 1952) graduated as a graphic artist and designer from the University of Art and Design, Helsinki, in 1977. After this, she studied printmaking at the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn, from 1977 to 1979.
Since 1978, Kallio’s works have featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Finland and abroad. Her works are included in the collections of Kiasma and the Finnish state. As an artist, it is characteristic of Kallio’s works that they address the spatial elements of printmaking. Many of her works are spatial installations, in which their parts reflect the process of printmaking and in which light, in its different forms, makes up an essential part of the work.

Painter and illustrator. After initial instruction from his father, Kaulbach received his principal education, from 1822 to 1826, at the Kunstakademie, Düsseldorf, under Peter Cornelius. Six months after Ludwig I, King of Bavaria, had summoned Cornelius to Munich, Kaulbach followed his tutor to the Bavarian capital, where he worked on various collaborative ventures with other pupils of Cornelius, and completed his practical training on such projects as the decoration of the Odeon (destroyed) in 1826, and of the Hofgartenarkaden, from 1826 to 1829 (now painted over). More independent work followed with 16 frescoes on the theme of Cupid and Psyche for the Festsaal of the Herzog-Max-Palais (1829-35; now Munich, Neue Pinakothek), and in the throne-room, salon and queen's bedroom of the newly erected Königsbau of the Residenz (1832-35; partly destroyed).
In 1835 he undertook a study trip to Venice and during the years 1835/39 to Rome. After being raised to the position of Court Painter to King Ludwig I he increasingly distanced himself from Cornelius. Starting 1847 he also worked in Berlin on numerous commissions from Prussia's King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. In 1849 von Kaulbach was named director of the Munich Academy and began a short time later with the plans for the Neue Pinakothek's frescoes. Kaulbach, who achieved widespread popularity through his sharp, satirical illustrations to several important literary works from, among others, Goethe and Schiller, was one of the most important and successful artists of his time. Whereas the large format of Kaulbach's major works owe much to the history paintings of Carl Theodor von Piloty, his sculptural-baroque modelling coupled with restrained coloration are directly related to the Cornelius school.

Born in Tallinn, Kozakovskiy, he studied in 1871-73, at the Tallinn Huber Gymnasium (at T.A. Sprengel's studio). Then in the Petersburg Academy of Arts from 1880 to 1885. He is best known for his posthumously published memoirs, which have gone through many editions from seventeen different publishers.
He was the son of portrait and history painter Gerhard von Kügelgen. The home where he grew up in Dresden is now the Kügelgenhaus Museum. He attended the Gymnasium in Bernburg (Saale) and studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.
In 1833, he became the Court Painter at the Anhalt-Bernburg summer residence in Ballenstedt and remained there the rest of his life. From 1853 to 1863, he served as personal chamberlain to Duke Alexander Karl.

At the same time under V.V. Lebedev's supervision Kurdov V.I. started to illustrate books for children and juvenile sections of the State Publishing House. His artworks can be found in the State Tretyakov Gallery and other museum collections of Russia.

Alex Kütt, 1945, studied at the Tallinn State Institute of Applied Arts, graduated in 1949. Then he worked from 1949 to 1985, lecturer at the Department of drawing and graphics at the Art Academy of Estonia.
Especially it is known as a printmaker. Using different techniques of engraving was an experimenter in new techniques of electro-colour gravure printing and graphic hot. He liked to portray, fishermen, industrial motifs, landscapes, sports, war. In early works close to nature, in the second half of the 1960s, his work became more complex, which was attended by his imagination and became the predominant decorative style.

For personal circumstances surrounding, Lääne could not finish Art School Pallas, where he studied for two years in the studio of A. Vardi. His works were exhibited at 13 art exhibitions.

A graphic and painter, Myart Laarman was also occupied with teaching and literary work. In the twenties he studied at A.Laikmaa’s school, then continued his education during trips to Northern countries (Finland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden). Was a member of the Estonian Cubists and Constructivists Group, in the thirties he changed to rather realistic motifs.
Typical of his works is the laconic and decorative style in the use of colours and reserved lyrical interpretation.

Laigo Arkadio studied painting in "Pallas" from 1922 to 1927,by N.Triik and P.Aren. In the first years the artist mainly painted compositions, still lives, landscapes. at first in the style of New Objectivity, later - influenced by the French late Cubism and Art Déco. His manner was quite refined, nevertheless he abandoned painting and chose xylography about 1933. He was the most outstanding wood engraver in the art of 1930s beside Hando Mugasto. In 1935 the artist, living in a little town Võru, edited the portfolio "Xylographs" . The present print derives from the portfolio, the mature example oh his vigorous style in this kind of art, reflecting the common interest of "Pallas" school in the suburban life.

Lebedev Vladimir Vassilievich (1891, Saint-Petersburg – 1967, Leningrad).
People’s Artist of the RSFSR, corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Arts.
One of the founders of the Russian school for illustrating of the books for children. Attended the F.A. Russo Studio (1910-1914) and the M.D. Bernstein and L.V. Sharewood School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture. Studied at the Saint-Petersburg Academy of Arts (1912-1914).
Collaborated with the “Satirikon’ and ‘New Satirikon’ Magazines. Was one of the founders of the propagandistic Windows of ‘ROSTa’ in Petrograd (1920-1921).
Professor of the Petrograd State Arts Studios (1918-1921).
Joined the ‘Association of New Trends in the Art’ (1922-1923) headed by V.E. Tatlin, having been considerably influenced by that. Later on was a member of the ‘Four Arts’. Created a special type of books illustration, uniting the traditions of the book illustrating drawing technique of the ‘World of the Arts’ and the futurists. In the 1920th made the satirical series ‘NEP’ (New Economical Policy), ‘New Life’, ‘Love of the Rabble’. The brilliant drawings ‘Acrobats’, ‘Ballerinas’ and ‘Guitar-players’ as well the numerous sketches of the naked appeared as the results of everyday work with the models. The artist’s illustrations to the ‘Baby elephant’ by R. Kipling and the poems of S. Marshak ‘Yesterday and Today’, ‘Ice-cream’, ‘Silly little mouse’, ‘Circus’ (all 1925), ‘Luggage’ (1926) and ‘How the Plane made the Plane’ opened a new era in the illustrated book for children. V.V. Lebedev was heading the Artistic Editorial Office of the Children and Youth literature Department of the State Edition, having converted it to the centre of creation of highly artistic books for children (1924-1933).
The works of V.V. Lebedev are kept at the State Tretyakov Gallery, the State Russian Museum and other museums.
